For many years, the world’s highest jumper title has been a hotly contested one, with many athletes vying for the top spot. But who currently holds the title of world’s highest jumper?
When it comes to high jumping, there are a few different categories that athletes can compete in, including the high jump and the vertical jump. In both cases, the goal is to jump as high as possible, with the highest jump determining the winner.
In the high jump, the current world record is held by Javier Sotomayor of Cuba, who jumped an incredible 2.45 meters (8 feet, 0.46 inches) in 1993. Sotomayor’s record has remained unbroken for over 25 years, making him the undisputed king of the high jump.
However, when it comes to the vertical jump, the title of world’s highest jumper is a little more hotly contested. In this category, athletes are measured on how high they can jump without a running start, using only their own leg power.
There are a few different methods that athletes can use to train for the vertical jump, including plyometric exercises, weightlifting, and specific jump training drills. Some athletes have even used specialized equipment, such as jump shoes or resistance bands, to help them improve their jump height.
One athlete who has made a name for himself in the world of vertical jumping is Jordan Kilganon. Kilganon is a Canadian basketball player and freestyle dunker who has become famous for his incredible leaping ability.
In 2016, Kilganon made headlines when he performed what is now known as the “Scorpion Dunk” at the NBA All-Star Weekend. In this incredible feat, Kilganon leaped into the air, did a full 360-degree turn, and slammed the ball through the hoop – all while contorting his body into a scorpion-like shape.
While there is no official measurement for Kilganon’s vertical jump, many experts estimate that he can jump well over 40 inches – putting him in very rare company indeed. And while he may not hold the title of world’s highest jumper just yet, he is certainly one of the most exciting athletes to watch when it comes to leaping ability.
Of course, there are many other athletes who could lay claim to the title of world’s highest jumper, including Olympic high jump medalists like Mutaz Barshim and Gianmarco Tamberi. But for now, it seems that the title of world’s highest jumper remains up for grabs – and who knows which athlete will step up to claim it next?
